This book is very inspiring and educational. The author takes us on his journey of recovery from his stroke. Watching him better himself and help himself regain what he can even after the stroke is awe-inspiring. I wished I had read this book when my grandpa was still alive, as it could have helped motivate him to regain his strength and do what he used to do. I enjoyed scanning and watching the videos in this book; they make you feel you are part of his journey. On his journey to self-healing, he can still find a way to inspire others and help others find strength, which is natural resilience. I enjoyed how interactive this book is; it has excellent editing and visuals, and even the font was very well thought out

''Strength in Motion'' is the last book that author Terence Ang wrote to show how, after losing his life, he could recover. In this book, the author shows the power of resistance and how therapy and exercise help him transform his body and mind. I have to say that this book is hopeful and makes you think about the possibility of overcoming difficulties, with resistance and patience. In addition, this book mentions people who are close to a person who is recovering and how that support and solidarity make a difference in any treatment. This book is a good read with many lessons to learn and apply. I highly recommend it.

Emotionally gripping

Terence Ang’s Strength in Motion is an emotionally gripping narrative that chronicles Terence’s remarkable journey of triumph over adversity following a debilitating stroke. Through a rich tapestry of personal anecdotes, expert insights, and fellow survivors’ narratives, Terence crafts a compelling narrative that not only sheds light on the challenges of stroke recovery but also offers a beacon of hope and inspiration to those facing similar adversities.

At the heart of Terence’s story is his exploration of the transformative power of exercise in stroke recovery. With unwavering determination and dedication, Terence demonstrates how regular physical activity can lead to newfound confidence, independence, and a satisfying life post-stroke. His narrative resonates deeply as he navigates the challenges of post-stroke life, highlighting the pivotal role of exercise in reclaiming control and fostering newfound confidence and independence.

This book seamlessly weaves together different personal experiences that echo a gradual recovery journey. The narrative doesn’t just skim the surface; it delves deep into the multifaceted aspects of stroke recovery: Stroke’s impact alters lives fundamentally, requiring resilience and adaptations. Surviving stroke prompts lifestyle changes, cognitive challenges, and a battle against sedentary modern lifestyles contributing to strokes. This is all about a narrative that advocates for accessible exercise options and collaborative efforts to support stroke survivors.

Approaches like the use of therapy and community services like Stroke Support Station (S3), Abilities Beyond Limitations and Expectations (ABLE) and One-Rehab offer support for stroke survivors, emphasizing personalized care and the importance of speech therapy in aiding communication challenges post-stroke. There are also specialized interventions that are tailored to individual needs, such as visual stimuli for memory improvement, all of which contribute to enhancing recovery and social integration. Every one of these journeys towards recovery involves physical activity and self-management skills that paint a vivid picture of the challenges and triumphs in the aftermath of stroke.

I have been following Terence writing for a long while, and this particular book to me seem like the most detailed and medical of his writing so far. Another one of the book’s most compelling aspects is its emphasis on forging bonds with fellow survivors, which serves as a catalyst for determination and resilience. Terence’s advocacy for accessible exercise options and collaborative support efforts underscores the importance of holistic rehabilitation beyond the hospital setting. His narrative shines a spotlight on specialized interventions tailored to individual needs, such as speech therapy and occupational therapy, which play crucial roles in aiding communication challenges and promoting independence.

What sets Strength in Motion apart is its deeply personal approach to storytelling. Terence shares his own struggles and triumphs with raw honesty, inviting readers into his world and allowing them to experience the highs and lows of his recovery journey firsthand. From the initial challenges of isolation and despair, to the eventual triumph of finding purpose and meaning in helping others. Terence’s narration serves as a profound eye-opener. Each stage of his journey becomes a moment of connection, guiding us through the gradual process of understanding what a stroke entails and how to navigate its complexities.

Strength in Motion is a deeply poignant and inspiring testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity. Through Terence’s courageous storytelling and unwavering determination, readers are invited to embark on a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and hope. His message is clear: with faith, perseverance, and the support of the community, anything is possible. This is not just a book; it is a rallying cry for stroke survivors everywhere to embrace the power of resilience and reclaim control of their lives.

Strength in Motion is an informative and very well put together book about Terence's continued experiences with therapy after a stroke. This book helps you to understand how he deals with aphasia, physical therapy, and the daily routines to recovery. It is an even more up close and personal story of his life and those who are involved.

There are QR codes throughout the book which I enjoyed. I was able to scan and see the videos. As I moved through the pages of my Kindle, I scanned the codes that were available in the book. The video's are in correlation with the pictures on each page. Which truly makes this book and the testimonies come alive.

Terence Ang has been an inspiration for me. His books about life after a stroke are full of information, feelings, emotions, struggles, and advice. If you have a loved one who has experienced a stroke I recommend reading this book. It gives you a better perspective of everyone involved from friends, doctors, and everyday acquaintances.

Author Terence Ang opens up his life, his stroke experiences, and his ongoing battle post-stroke unlike anything before. Failure is guaranteed, but it isn’t the end; it’s the getting back up and striving to continue that makes the winding road of recovery successful.

In Ang’s previous books, “A Cry In The Dark” and “Emerging From the Dark,” his artistic talents were on display as he navigated his stroke and recovery. But, in his newest book “Strength in Motion” he uses the typewriter and a variety of photos and videos (via QR Code) to provide readers access like never before to the difficulties, journey, variety of recovery techniques, and even setbacks on his path to independence.

As a reader you are immersed in Ang’s world as you go with him from occupational therapy to personal trainer, Pilates and more. Each is offered from the perspective of Ang, as well as insights and understanding from the trainer, doctor, or advocate’s perspective. The first two reads in Ang’s arsenal walked readers through the medical and psychological side of a stroke. “Strength in Motion” opens readers to the continued rehabilitation, in all the forms it takes, of Ang’s recovery process.

Rehab isn’t just physical therapy and doctor’s appointments. Rehab is a way to improve quality of life and assist in regaining some level of performance, independence, comfort in tasks, and much more. There isn’t any one person in Terence’s life that provides the singular rehabilitation he desires or necessitates to reach his goals. Terence maintains a whole host of trained and qualified individuals to provide him the tools, strategies, and training to continue progressing in his recovery. Even when a fall sets him back, the team he surrounds himself with, both personally and as a source of rehabilitation, pick him back up and set him back on the right path.

I loved that Ang gave us an upfront and personal view of his exercises, individuals supporting him, and what he’s accomplished as a result. Once again, his work opens the door on stroke and stroke recovery to readers, advocates, others who’ve suffered or care for someone who’ve suffered a stroke.

It is an inspiring story and real proof that it is possible to recover even in the face of very complex difficulties. I liked it because it is not a “nice” narrative where everything is fine, but it is sincere and clear about all the obstacles to face. It is a good read for health professionals, the family of a stroke survivor, and obviously, for the survivor. It is great!
