The morning was packed with fun and feels. We played a nostalgic game of Bingo that had us time-traveling through Singaporeās rich historyāthink iconic foods, buildings, famous faces, unforgettable events, and National Day songs that still give you goosebumps.
And just when you thought it couldnāt get more Singaporean⦠enter the Durian Cake from Emicakes. Yes, thatās rightāour king of fruits showed up in all its creamy glory. Definitely the most patriotic dessert. šš
So glad I got to celebrate with familiar faces like Mr Choy, Maya & Melvin, Wendy, Irene, and Atika. You all made the day extra special (and extra loud during the singalong)!
A big shoutout to Evelyn, who never fails to cheer me on. I had the chance to share a project close to my heartāmy upcoming stage play, āThe Silent Room.ā Itās still in progress, but itās raw, emotional, and dives deep into the journey of those living with aphasia, emotional trauma, and the slow but powerful road to recovery.
This isnāt just a playāitās a step toward something bigger. I want it to spark conversations, raise awareness, and be built on the voices of people with aphasia, caregivers, families, and friends. This community is the foundationāand I truly hope we can grow this together.
And of course⦠behind every great National Day party is an even greater team of volunteers. From prepping food and drinks to sorting out logistics, games, and musicāthey made the magic happen with heart, humour, and hustle. You are all our superheroes. š¦øāāļøš¦øāāļø
Happy (early) National Day, everyone!
Ā šøš¬ Here's to laughter, laksa, and louder voices for aphasia.
