Thanks to Singapore National Stroke Association, I found myself in a room full of laughter, loud music, and people punching the air like Rocky Balboa with a kopi-o kosong on their heads. I’m not even joking.
Enter Rasidah Caudal—aka Kakspiration—the Senior Master Trainer, STOTT Mat Pilates expert, ACE Senior Fitness Specialist, Guinness WORLD RECORD HOLDERS BOOK , and most importantly… Chief of Laughter. From the moment she pressed play on Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra” (wait… is that even her song?!), it was chaos—in the best way possible.
We sliced onions, stirred curry, and shouted "piak piak!" while pretending to be shameless sotongs flapping around the dance floor. I was scared at first, but once the music started—game over. My legs moved. My right hand (yes, that stubborn one) started to boogie. Slowly but surely, I was in it.
“Dance like no one’s watching!” she said. “Also, imagine you’ve got kopi-o on your head—don’t spill it!”
I nearly spilled myself instead.
I remember seeing Marianne Tan grooving away in Dawn Poh ’s Facebook post during the last PILOXING session, and Maya Lightchaser has been encouraging me to go ever since—so here I am. And I’m so glad I showed up.
Irene Cooper , Candy Chia and Atika Ahmad were grooving and dancing away to the loud music. Richard did likewise in his chair—proof that when the beat hits right, your body will find a way to move!
At the end, I gave Rasidah Caudal my book A Cry in the Dark, and of course, we had to take a photo. I stood strategically behind her to look slimmer. Dancer mode: ON.
Let’s just say… if laughter is the best medicine, PILOXING is the full prescription.
