From MRT Station to Moving Pictures

After seeing my face at the TEL MRT station at Orchard, I thought that was already surreal enough.

Now, the videos from the same Team Healthcare campaign are finally out on TikTok and YouTube, and I have been looking forward to seeing them since filming took place just over a month ago.

This is the same campaign I first encountered at Orchard TEL MRT station, where I saw myself on the large LED wall, digital signages, and even the MRT doors. At that time, it already felt strange and meaningful to see myself in the print advertisement, representing a stroke survivor undergoing physiotherapy.

Now, seeing the story come alive in video form feels even more powerful.

Filming took place over two days, and honestly, the whole production felt like I was shooting a movie. There were lights, cameras, a full crew, directions, retakes, waiting time, and that little voice in my head going, “Terence, do not look blur now. This is your moment.” 😅

I had a wonderful experience filming the videos. The production team was very professional, patient, and kind. They also took very good care of me throughout the shoot, which meant a lot.

As someone who has gone through stroke recovery, I know how important care is. Not just medical care, but human care. The kind that makes you feel safe, respected, and understood.

That is why this campaign feels meaningful to me.

The Team Healthcare message is about how every patient journey is supported by many people across different settings. For a stroke patient, recovery may begin in the hospital, but it does not end there. Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, care coordinators, and many others all play a part.

Some are seen.

Some work quietly behind the scenes.

But each role matters.

In my own recovery journey, I have experienced this firsthand. It was never one person alone who helped me move forward. It was a team. A very human team.

The line from the campaign still stays with me:

“On this team, we do not just show up. We show up for one another.”

That is exactly what recovery feels like.

You do not recover alone.

You recover with people who believe in you, guide you, challenge you, encourage you, and sometimes help you take that one more step when your body refuses to cooperate.

For many stroke survivors, physiotherapy can be a struggle. It is a battle of will and determination when the body does not listen or respond the way it used to. So to be part of a campaign that shows this journey with dignity and realism is something I am truly grateful for.

From seeing myself at the MRT station to now watching the videos online, this whole experience has been a little funny, a little overwhelming, and very meaningful.

I went from wondering why my face was so big at Orchard MRT…

To now watching myself on TikTok and YouTube.

Very dramatic.

Very public.

Very “cannot run away from myself.” 😂

But beyond the humour, I am proud to be part of a campaign that honours the people who care, and the patients who keep going.

Because every recovery story takes a team.
