🏆 A WIN — AND NOW, A NEW REVIEW.

I’m grateful that Brokenness Becomes Beautiful: Inspiring Pieces of Poetry recently won the 2026 NYC Big Book Award in the category of Audiobook: Poetry/Memoir.

Following the award, Ted Olczak, President & Publisher of Printed Word Reviews, shared a thoughtful review of the book.

What means most to me is that the review looks beyond the idea of simply “recovering” from stroke. It reflects on the deeper journey behind the book — living with aphasia, adapting to a changed voice and body, learning to accept who I am now, and continuing to rebuild a life with meaning and purpose.

Brokenness Becomes Beautiful was never about pretending that brokenness disappears. It is about discovering that even through the cracks, something new can still emerge.

I’m thankful to Ted and Printed Word Reviews for taking the time to engage so thoughtfully with the book.
